The Perishable Foods Council of Northern California and Northern Nevada is a nonprofit professional organization in support of the perishable foods industry. Our membership includes retailers, manufacturers, brokers, distributors and support services. Our diverse and comprehensive membership insures that you will be part of an important community.

The primary mission is to support the future of our industry through mentorship and educational programs. These programs are targeted at college students entering the industry. We support this mission in two ways through scholarship awards and our internship program. Scholarships are awarded annually to the sons and daughters of members, especially those of our retail members.

Our scholarship program supports the continuing education of our future leaders. Our internship program acquaints students from UC Davis and San Jose State University with the industry. Each fall and spring we tour ten different facilities, with our members hosting the tours. We also offer program leadership opportunities to selected students. Some of our interns have gone on to work for member companies. Our internship program is really unique and has gained recognition in the industry.

Another important advantage of membership is attending and networking at our events. We start each year with the Winter Gala in January. This is our premier social event which is highly attended by our industry.

The golf tournament is a top notch networking event and a lot of fun! In November, we host the President’s Dinner, where we honor key industry leaders as well as our Past Presidents. As part of this event, we collect toys for a local charity. We also donate turkeys each Thanksgiving to the needy. We strongly believe in giving back to our community.
